Reunion (Unpublished 08/2008)
UNPUBLISHED! I planned to post this in August 2008.
We took the boat down to our family reunion in Fish Lake, Utah.
We took the boat down to our family reunion in Fish Lake, Utah.
I guess it's fun to sit in a boat even when it's not in the water ...
This was also the first time that we put up the mast.
100 things... (Unpublished 07/2008)
UNPUBLISHED! I planned to post this in June 2008.
100 things...you may or may not know about me:
100 things...you may or may not know about me:
- I like to color-code things, although less than I used to.
- I like binder clips.
- I used to hate to read, but now I enjoy it equally with watching television.
- My favorite dead actor/actress are Steve McQueen and Gene Tierney.
- I like to organize drawers.
- My favorite living actor/actress are Scarlet Johannsen.
- I used to want to be an Event Planner.
- My favorite Bollywood actor/actress are Hrithik Roshan and Rani Mujherkee.
- My favorite holiday is Halloween.
- A life goal of mine is to write a book. I'm working on it, slowly.
- I love to travel and wish I could do it professionally, or at least more than I do now.
- My favorite bands are Oingo Boingo and Rush.
- My favorite season is the fall.
- My top five favorite movies of all time are: Marnie, Pride and Prejudice, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Dumb and Dumber, and Random Harvest.
- I love to wear long-sleeved shirts, especially ones with really long sleeves that go down past my hands. It's a nervous habit to hold onto the end of the sleeves.
- My favorite color is blue.
- The friend I've had the longest is Heather; we share a brain, and it's sometimes scary.
- My favorite thing about being an Administrative Assistant is organizing my boss' calendars. I know, I'm sick.
- Some of my favorite albums ever include: R.E.M. - Out of Time, U2 - Zooropa, Rush - Presto, and Oingo Boingo - Nothing to Fear
- My favorite big-brand store is Target.
- I used to be a night person. Now I think I'm more of a morning person. But sometimes I am a night and morning person at the same time ... and then I get really tired.
- Some places I would love to visit include: New Zealand, India, Amsterdam, and Washington, DC.
- I don't like Dave Matthews Band. I'm sorry! I really try, and I know they have a lot of fans!
- I hate to answer the telephone, and I attribute this to 5+ years of being a receptionist during my professional career.
- I'm not big on knick-knacks, except during holidays and then bring it on!
- I am however obsessed with things (bowls, containers, plates, vases) made of thick metal, thick glass, thick colored glass (love it), and wood.
- Actually, I'm obsessed with containers in general. I love them, and have spares on hand to use to store spices, cooking supplies, crafts, etc.
- I would like to try sky diving. I think I might chicken before the actual jump. I'm more afraid of the landing than of falling from the sky. I've heard of too many people breaking bones on re-entry.
- I've never had a broken bone. (I'm knocking on so many pieces of wood right now!)
- I have tons of storage bins, big and small! My cupboards and closets are full of bins that are full of stuff. I use them everywhere to keep organized!
- I love taking pictures.
- I don't tan. I'm not saying that I don't doing it. I'm saying I have tried it, but my skin rejects the idea! I burn, peel, freckle, and fade. End of story.
- I am more of a cat person than a dog person. I like pets that sleep 18-hours a day.
- I love to cook, and wish I had more time to practice, or to take a class.
- My favorite restaurants are El Farol's, Mimi's Cafe, Cowboy Grub, and a new favorite ... Ganesh.
- I love to bake treats and take to neighbors as a surprise. It's fun!
- I am awesome at playing Dr. Mario!!!
- My favorite movie I've seen this year is Iron Man.
- I am obsessed with Odwalla's! I love the protein ones, but the pressed carrot juice is fabulous, too! Yum!
- I like to play card games.
- I like having BFF's that range from 1-100. It's amazing that when we're young we limit our friends to 2 years younger/older than ourselves.
- I like things that are fuzzy, velvety, or feathery.
- I have been to the Spiral Jetty 4 times.
- I'm not a fan of pink, although I like brown and pink together.
- I learned how to swim twice. I learned once and ... seriously ... fear of the water caused me to forget how to swim! So, I started again. I am not afraid of the water and still know how to swim.
- I don't feet comfortable wearing pastels.
- I don't decorate in brights or pastels. I like warm tones, and our baby blue bathroom is a real stretch for me. But, I do like it.
- I like Orbit gum.
- I walked past Michael Keaton at the SLC airport. He was sitting down less that two feet from me. I could have patted him on the head. (Wouldn't that have been a story!) That's the closest brush with "celebrity" that I've ever had.
- Doing 50 of these isn't too bad, but 100 is HARD.
Goo Songs (Unpublished 09/2007)
UNPUBLISHED! I planned to post this in September 2007.
We love Goo Songs! Someday we will write a book with pictures and everything!

Goo is a cute fat cat.
His loves in life include food ... well, pretty much that's it. Here are some popular home-sung Goo songs:
To the tune of "Matchmaker" from Fiddler on the Roof:
Fat Goozer, Fat Goozer, he wants some food
You have reached the end of all recorded Goo Songs
Brand Attachment (Unpublished 09/2007)
So, we had a discussion at work about "Brand Attachment", which pretty much is a brand with which you've had a great experience and have formed an emotional bond. It can be objects, or even people can be brands. Currently some of the things to which I have Brand Attachment include:
Toyota = I don't think that ever in my life will I want to be without
a Toyota to drive.
Sketchers = My favorite shoes ever. Could anything be more
comfortable?
SandW Canned Food = I pick them off the shelf first, and always hope
they're on sell. I really think they taste better!
Mo's Restaurants = In my opinion there is no better restaurant
anywhere. I guess I need to move to Oregon.
Silence (Unpublished 05/2009)
UNPUBLISHED! I planned to post this in May 2009.
Wow - almost a month and a half since I've posted anything. I figure I'd throw something on here, and then disappear again ... back for one split second, and then off to enjoy spring/summer.
Wow - almost a month and a half since I've posted anything. I figure I'd throw something on here, and then disappear again ... back for one split second, and then off to enjoy spring/summer.
So obviously the best thing for me to tell you about is the sailboat. Ha, ha.
We never did really name it. We tried, but it didn't stick. It's like naming a pet ... you have to keep trying names and soon enough one will stick! For now we just call it "the boat", like on One Crazy Summer ... which is how we could describe the upcoming summer of 2009! Woo-hoo!
We actually rented a slip at Utah Lake for the sailboat. Ours is the sorriest looking thing out there, but it's ours and we love it. And we're not the least bit ashamed when we have to cover our boat with a tarp because it isn't self-bailing and we don't want it to fill up with water. Not the least bit ashamed.
It's been an interesting experience moving into the "neighborhood". Our new "neighbors" come by to greet us so they can meet the new people on the dock. So far we've met Kevin and Valerie in the house boat, and Stanley who is two boats down. Also the "pasty people" in the Hunter three boats the other way, who look as if they've never seen sunlight. And the "midnight sailor" in the matching Hunter next to him, who wonders why we bring our boat in when it gets dark. "It's just barely getting good out there." Someday maybe we'll know their names.
There are other things we've seen as well that let us know how unfamiliar we are with all of this, and at the same time how exciting it is. For one, I've never seen anyone go fishing with a crossbow ... until today! Wowser!
And I barely understand how Matt and I are able to get our boat back in the slip ... sometimes I wish we had another person to make it easier. And then I see Stanley do it single-handedly! I wanted to start cheering - it was great!
And I'm still trying to understand the nightly campfire crowd that gathers. It's quite a party and they seem like they're the oldest of friends. I have a feeling it's a long-standing tradition.
It's just the beginning of our time down there, and I have a feeling it's going to be a very crazy summer! Hope you all have the same!!
