DAY 9

Day 9 it was a little cloudy when we got out, but we could see signs of blue sky!

We drove through Lahaina.

The things there were really interesting, like this guy who is spraying down his parrots. You can go have your picture taken with them.

And I've forgotten to mention that there are a lot of tattoo places, like Atomic Tattoo.

We went north to Kahekili Beach Park and went snorkeling there. I did really good, which was a miracle. Toward the end of our snorkel, we saw two 2+ foot sized turtles! They were very cool. Matt was treading water talking to me about them. He suddenly looked down into the water and came back up. "It felt like I hit a rock ... it's a HUGE turtle underneath us." It was huge. Probably about 4 feet. Matt swam after him for awhile. It was very cool.

We went back into Lahaina and ate lunch at Bubba Gump's.

Shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can ...

We walked by a couple shops. We took this picture for Kristen and Nate because of their cute daughter Hattie ...

Front Street is a most unusual place. You never know what you're going to witness, like this person very much looking like Dorothy & Toto.

After lunch we drove down to Wailea Beach, which is the beach we were at our first night in Maui. You can probably guess by now that Lahaina & Wailea were our favorite spots.

We walked around near Wailea as the sun was going down.

Matt got wet and sandy.

And walked around.

We walked up near the resorts and I took some pictures of the COOL plants and flowers they have in their landscaping.

Flowers.

Flowers.

Palm tree and tiki torch.

Wouldn't you like to eat dinner here at the Wailea Resort?

This is a little different than our sleeping accomodations.

Getting ready for tonight's luau.

Sun going down on Wailea Beach.

This is a pretty cool rock.

You can read about this rock here.

Sunset.

Flower.

These are a couple pictures that show what the VOG does to the sunset. At least it was starting to blow out.

The VOG at least made these contrast pictures pretty cool.

Luau.

Wailea Beach parking lot at 7:15pm.

It was a great day. It was pretty relaxing and we spent a lot of time in the water. Seeing the turtles was so great! We got some pictures of them which I'll have to post when we have our underwater film developed.
